Promoting the Western Region Locally, Regionally, and Internationally Hamdan Bin Zayed Launches Western Region E-Gate

20 Feb 2012, Abu Dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan representative of the ruler in the western region launched the western region electronic gate, as part his kind initiatives toward furthering constructive and productive communication among the people of the western region and the relevant authorities, gearing toward further economic and community development in the western region.



On the occasion of launching the electronic site, his highness stressed the necessity to provide the governmental authorities and their partners with technologies of electronic communication toward cementing and enhancing the communication bridges and ties among locals and residents in the western region and the service providers, in addition to providing data base of electronic and social data for the various activities, which can help them do everything helpful and useful for developing and activating the economy of the western region and achieving sustainable development in all walks of life.





This initiative is part of the Western Region Development Council’s efforts toward providing all information and data related to the western region, including the career opportunities available and the cultural, tourist, and sports activities held and organized in the western region every year.


The western region e-gate is considered as data bank including and providing such important economic information for investors to set up their projects and businesses in the western region. Moreover, the e-gate aims to establish small and medium projects through providing sufficient information on the mechanisms and requirements of establishing such emerging companies and projects to the entrepreneurs in coordination with Khalifa Fund for Projects Development.


In addition to the above, the western region’s e-gate provides sufficient information on history of the western region, its towns and sights including its ancient heritage and culture, besides rich information for various segments of society including students, locals, residents and Arab and foreign tourists.

This e-gate is also easy to follow up through the new applications such as “I pad” and “I phone” giving users good chance to see and read about all sections and topics smoothly and quickly.

The electronic site also presents wide rage of services to economic sectors in oil, tourism, banking, and commercial fields related to issuance of licenses, finance, invoice and fees payment, not forgetting the commercial and business directory needed by the business people and the economic entities and organizations working in the western region, as well as the agenda of the annual events and activities.

With regard to media, the site publishes the latest news and events related to the western region, in addition to presenting a gallery of photographs and videos talking and describing the western region in both Arabic and English languages.

In this regard, H.E. Mohammed Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazrooi director general of the western region development council mentioned that the e-gate is an ideal vehicle for promoting the western region locally, regionally, and internationally thanks to such necessary information provided on the sights existing in the western region and for promoting its festivals and activities on wide scale, stressing that the launching of this e-gate is a good result of the cooperation between the council and its strategic partners and all other relevant parties concerned with developing the western region.

Mr. Al Mazrooi added that the western region e-gate would take part in increasing the size of information and experience exchanged between the relevant establishments and departments through providing community services and developing the infrastructure and by supporting the various economy in the western region, in addition to enhancing the collective work. It also constitutes a center of necessary information giving way to all concerned parties to interact and take part in facilitating economic and social development in the western region.

He further said that the launching of the e-gate is part of the council’s continued efforts to keep abreast with the technological advances prevailing across the world in field of information and knowledge management as a distinctive means opening new horizons for direct communication with wide spectra of society and unifying information sources on the western region as well.
