One of the key aims of the WRDC is to support small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in order to stimulate job creation. The WRDC is working hard to encourage entrepreneurship among the locals with a continuing awareness campaign, and the offering of training on how to establish and run a company. The Council also works with ‘business angels’ who complement the WRDC’s business knowledge transfer campaign. The WRDC has also partnered with the Khalifa Fund for small and medium enterprises to hold some awareness sessions in Madinat Zayed, Mirfa, Jebel Dhanna, Dalma and Sila. The roadshows cover available opportunities for local residents to set up their won businesses in Al Gharbia.
In addition to the advice offered at the sessions, the WRDC and the Khalifa fund will provide ongoing support to local entrepreneurs seeking to set up their own businesses.
