The 'Women In Technology' programme provides training to enhance development skills for women in the region and several centres are now operating in the region. The programme realises a key goal of the WRDC to enhance the lives of Al Gharbia residents and help them in their professional development. WIT has been working in close collaboration with officials at WRDC since early March 2007 and provides an opportunity for women to learn more about basic information technology skills. Through WIT, participants also receive professional advice and information to help them get better jobs, which aids the region's economic growth.
The Professional Development Network, established in October 2008 is a vital part of WIT and aims to provide a major impetus to women entrepreneurship in Al Gharbia. The Network focuses on shaping career options and creating an alumni group for women with the support of General Women's Union. The initiative aims to help maintain contact with graduates and provide suitable job opportunities for them, in addition to promoting the program among different groups in the local society and in government and private institutions.
